I’d say, in our post-feminist era, the place of a “man” in society has been lost. The general idea is that ONLY WOMEN CAN RAISE A GOOD MAN. This supports splitting families because “the children are better off” with only a mother. The father is really just a sperm donor and resource provider because he’ll never live up to the standards of any woman, for him to be more like a good woman.

Of course, this Hollywood movie is a romantic comedy, and is targeted to the female buying audience. Let’s remember that Hollywood is a for-profit industry, like oil or iPods, and not an educational institution. Hollywood sells to the fantasies and selfish ego drives of consumers. Problem is, consumers don’t look at it that way and instead believe the lessons and teaching of the movies as being true and what creates success. We know everything about crime from crime dramas and everything about successful relationships and life from romantic comedies.

The fantasy of a woman to “tame a stallion” rooted is typically rooted in power & safety. The power to win at control and the safety of a neutered stallion that supposedly won’t run off. Unfortunately divorce is at 50% and most children today have broken homes, so they also grow up learning divorce is “the right thing to do” if you don’t get what you want. Something isn’t working in this romantic comedy system. Great you are boldly willing to question the status quo.
