The following is Part Fourteen of an expanded transcript of a detailed and in-depth interview Patrick Wanis PhD Human Behavior Expert gave to Michele Morrisette with www.PurQi.com  about gurus, cults and brainwashing. Here Patrick Wanis reveals the link between lust, vanity & greed and spiritual healers,  and he exposes examples of the ways that gurus, spiritual healers make extraordinary claims of supernatural powers and lie and fabricate claims about scientific evidence or proof, and that they hide behind marketing and false images. Patrick Wanis: So, I was going to lead to one final point.

It’s important that we keep our mind open as a seeker of truth because if something is true, it doesn’t matter from what angle you approach it, it will always be the same. If you take truth, you can look at it from 360-degrees, and it does not change.

But people, who in their hearts have a fear that what they believe and think is truth is not actual truth, are afraid to look at that truth, in case they realize that it is not truth, and that thus, they were wrong.

So I would say to all the people who promote Mahendra Trivedi (and other similar self-professed healers), look at it, and look at the real documentation. If you are sending out blasts of emails, about all the thousands of people that are being healed, send me those names. Send me the real healing and show me the documentation.

Anyone can say that thousands of people have been healed. How many thousands?

One thousand, two thousand, ten thousand, one hundred thousand? How many thousands?

Have they been documented or are you just doing what most people do, marketing with exaggerated, unsubstantiated claims, which are often basically lies and fabrications?

Are there really thousands of documented cases of healing by Mahendra Trivedi? And if there are, why is there not one documented case from any institution in the US? Why hasn’t Mr. Trivedi gotten on any TV show and performed the miracle live on television?

Why?

Because he doesn’t want to be tested? But he claims he’s been performing blessings in his retreats & on his phone seminars, and he’s charging for it and being paid for it.

[Update: In 2013, Mahendra Trivedi’s blog website claims that “Cancer is Curable Now with Trivedi Science” and claims that his “divine energy” can convert cancerous cells to non-cancerous cells. https://www.mahendratrivediscam.com/cancer-is-curable-now/ and this website post by Mahendra Trivedi makes the same claim. https://www.speakingtree.in/spiritual-blogs/seekers/science-of-spirituality/cancer-is-curable-now-with-trivedi-science-mahendra-trivedi

Update: Trivedi loses lawsuit against critic exposing his false claims:

Click here to view a snapshot of the claim he can cure cancer.  Notice that Trivedi wrote the article which claims he has these special powers!

Mahendra Trivedi cites “Researchers at the California Pacific Medical Center Research Institute” but offers no link to that site, no details of the study and a search for “Trivedi” on their site returns with no results. However, a search on their website for “cancer” reveals other studies done by the institute but again, does not mention Trivedi or “divine energy” transmissions such as:

“New Study Finds Cannabis Compound Could Have Even Greater Reach in Inhibiting Aggressive Cancer than Previously Thought” https://www.cpmc.org/about/press/news2012/cannabis-brain.html

And there is no mention of the Trivedi study on their page announcing results of studies and breakthrough findings: https://www.cpmc.org/about/press/ Why would an institute that allegedly tested a man who claims he can cure cancerous cells (and thus cancer) not publicize that research study, the finding, the abstract or the full text on its own official website? Why is it not being broadcast or mentioned by any major media outlet?

The study referenced by Trivedi was conducted by researcher Dr. Garret Yount and is titled “Evaluation of Biofield Treatment Dose and Distance in Model of Cancer Death”. It was published online by “The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine”, June 25, 2012, but again not published on the official website of California Pacific Medical Center Research Institute. Dr. Yount clearly contradicts Mr. Trivedi’s claim that he had any major or noticeable impact on cancerous and non-cancerous cells; Dr Yount states that there wasn’t any statistical significance – no actual change in the cancerous cells, and; Dr Yount concluded by saying that “The data are inconclusive”.

Also, note that the study was funded by The Trivedi Foundation which paid approximately $140,000 for the study. Furthermore, the study says that the “practitioner remains anonymous to avoid any conflict of interest” but the practitioner is Mahendra Trivedi and the study says it is his foundation that funded the study; isn’t that a conflict of interest?]

Molecular biologist Andrew Smith issued a detailed scientific analysis of Mahendra Trivedi’s work and claims – Smith reveals how Trivedi’s studies do not follow scientific protocol.

Furthermore, Mahendra Trivedi claimed to have received endorsement by Deepak Chopra and he may have received that endorsement. However, the Deepak Chopra Foundation clearly and unequivocally stated that Deepak does not endorse Mahendra Trivedi. Deepak Chopra’s Executive Office in May 2011 sent a message: “This is to reconfirm that Deepak Chopra does not endorse Trivedi.”

Why not?

If Mahendra Trivedi, as he claims, has such extraordinary healing powers and if he is backed by thousands of scientific studies, why would Deepak Chopra not endorse him or why would he choose to withdraw a prior endorsement?

Obviously, Deepak Chopra wasn’t satisfied by the ‘studies’ or by the claims of healing and divine blessings.

Similarly, Dr. Claude Swanson, educated as a physicist at MIT and Princeton University, and who has pursued for over 15 years, investigations into “unconventional physics” and paranormal, stated that he, too, does not endorse Mahendra Trivedi and he requested that all references to him on Mahendra Trivedi’s website be removed.

Meanwhile, the IndiaRightsOnline website reveals that in 2003, Mahendra Kumar Trivedi (citing him as a “tantric” & spiritual guru) was involved in the sacrificing of over 500 goats in India and that the goat sacrifice was a ceremony performed twice a year for approximately 8 years and designed to enhance his spiritual powers to a higher level. Click here to read the article. (Also see the May 2003 issue of the Hindi magazine “Aankhen” – article by Mustafa Hussein, P.22.)

The point here is that we must be willing to test the truth of claims made by spiritual healers, gurus and teachers.

The same principle applies to everyone: If I say that I have a truth (or a claim), then that truth and claim must be able to be tested. It has got to be tested, otherwise, it’s not truth. Again, the same principle applies to some of these other teachers of The Secret and the Law of Attraction, who twisted it.

One teacher comes out and when they ask him “What is the Law of Attraction?”, says ‘What you give out, what you send out comes back to you.’ That’s not the Law of Attraction. That’s the teaching of Karma. That has nothing to do with the Law of Attraction because the Law of Attraction is about putting pictures up on the wall and manifesting something. It’s not about giving out good energy and getting back good energy. It’s much more than that.

Then you have the people who will say, “Well, James Ray who was found guilty of three counts of negligent homicide and sentenced to 2 years in prison, created his reality using the Law of Attraction.”

Really?

Did he have pictures of himself in a prison uniform or in a court of law?

And then some other supporters of the Law of Attraction respond with: “Well yes, yes, it’s because, as Abraham-Hicks teaches, it happens at the soul level. His soul created this.”

So we’re saying that the first hypothesis of Law of Attraction can be explained by the second hypothesis, which is at the soul level?

So what you’re saying now is James Ray is responsible for the death of three people because it was something that he did at his own soul level for his own growth and these three people that died did that at their own soul level? Well, if we’re being controlled at the soul level, why do we even believe in the Law of Attraction? Because, obviously, the soul level overrides the Law of Attraction.

I’m going off on a tangent but here’s my final point: There are other teachers and self-proclaimed gurus who have huge followers and will literally say and use the words, “You can change everything and anything in an instant, by your thought,” and yet, that very person who’s saying that to you is 30, 40, 50 pounds overweight, and has been for years and years.

So I would look that person in the eye and say, “If you really believe that all change happens in an instant, why don’t you instantly change, not for the sake of vanity to lose 30 or 40 pounds, but because you recognize that being overweight by 30 or 40 pounds puts pressure on your heart, can lead to diabetes and is seriously dangerous for you?”

Why not?

Because it’s easy to say things that bring in money when people don’t question us and don’t expect validation and evidence. And it’s the same criticism that people have of extreme religious people, of fanaticism. And we have to be aware of it, and cautious of it.

Note that Hulda Clark, author of “The Cure for All Cancers”, claimed to cure cancer, AIDS, and many other serious diseases but on September 3, 2009, she died of complications of multiple myeloma – cancer!

In one case involving Hulda Clark, Mrs. Esther Figueroa, who had been medically diagnosed with breast cancer, sought treatment in September 1998 from Hulda Clark. During the 3-month period of treatment, Mrs. Figueroa’s tumor increased from 1.5 cm to 14 cm, but despite this fact, Hulda Clark continued to tell Mrs. Figueroa that she was getting better, that tests for “cancer markers” were negative, and that pain she was experiencing did not reflect the persistence of her cancer. https://www.quackwatch.com/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/Cancer/clark.html

In another example, in 2013: Michael Ireland, an alternative therapist and ‘psychic healer’, claimed he could perform ‘psychic surgery.’ In one instance, he worked and treated Joanne Mulholland, 41, who has severe scoliosis — a twisted spine. But aside of actually failing to heal her or relieve her of pain, he continued to gain her trust and committed a series of sexual assaults on her. Michael Ireland was jailed after admitting five counts of sexual assault against her and he also admitted a total of 25 offences against eight women, including indecent assault and sexual activity with a child. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2290508/Intelligent-Successful-So-did-Joanne-trust-psychic-healer-abused-seedy-flat.html

And yet another example,
Students were allegedly taught that Bikram Yoga could “cure cancer” and “enable practitioners to live to be 100 years old” and that Mr Bikram Choudhury “is on the same level as Jesus Christ or the Buddha”…He “used his status as a guru to identify and victimize the most vulnerable women from among his flock, grooming them, breaking down barriers, and ultimately assaulting them when they were at their most physically, emotionally, or financially vulnerable,” according to court papers filed in California against Bikram Choudhury, founder of Bikram Yoga. The lawsuits – which contains allegations of rape, sexual battery, fraud and false imprisonment – are also leveled against 25 unnamed members of Mr Choudhury’s inner circle who allegedly knew of his behaviour “yet did nothing to prevent this from happening”.  – Excerpt from “Yoga guru Bikram Choudhury ‘raped students in cult-like training'”
